8:30am-11:30am Skywarn Recognition Meet and Greet / Open House at NWS Office
The National Weather Service office in San Angelo Texas will host their Skywarn Recognition Day meet & greet/open house on Saturday, December 7, 2024 from 8:30am to 11:30am. Address is 7654 Knickerbocker Rd, San Angelo, TX 76904. Contact Mike Castillo, Warning Coordination Meteorologist, mike.castillo@noaa.gov if you have any questions about the meet and greet.
11:30am-12:30pm Cookout at the Clubhouse (Lunch is Served @ 11:30 sharp)
The San Angelo Amateur Radio Club would like to invite any Skywarn volunteers to a cookout at the clubhouse, down the street from NWS about 1 mile. The address is 5513 Stewart Lane, San Angelo, Texas 76904. RSVP is not required but would be appreciated, especially if you are bringing a crowd from your area that is traveling for the event. 12:30pm – 2:00pm Skywarn Operations Roundtable Discussion
SAARC and the N5NWS Skywarn Net Control Operators will host a roundtable at the clubhouse after lunch to discuss Skywarn Ham Operations. All Skywarn volunteers are welcome to attend, and we especially hope that at least one Net Control Operator and/or the County ARES EC’s from each part of the NWS SJT weather forecast area can join us. We will be working on updated contact lists, sharing best practices, hearing how each area operates their unique situation, and SAARC will provide an update on the ARRL grant application to overhaul the station at N5NWS desk inside the NWS office. Depending on RSVP Count, this roundtable could be moved the City of San Angelo EOC at 8485 Hangar Road, San Angelo Texas 76904. Final location announcement will be made soon.
